Students must have adequate medical insurance while visiting Canada. It is best to arrange this prior to arrival. Insurance can be purchased in another country or in Canada.
The provincial government offers a limited medical insurance plan to students who have been in British Columbia for three months. Application should be made as soon as they arrive as the waiting period is also three months. Private insurance is required until BC Medical Insurance coverage is in place. It is strongly suggested that the government insurance plan be supplemented with a private plan even after that.
Private insurance for the entire stay is another option for students and this can be arranged on their own or through the school. Coverage takes place when the completed application form and payment are received.
